Friday Freebie: Theater Program Template

For the past few summers I have had the wonderful opportunity to take photos at a local summer theater conservatory for kids.  It was one of the highlights of my summer because the young actors were so incredibly talented and the songs from their musical, "Free to Be You and Me" resonated all day long while I edited my photos.

As a fun way to capture their head-shots I created this template inspired by the Playbills you get from a Broadway show.  In my template I inserted a head-shot or stage photo of each child and added that to their digital album.  For an aspiring actor it is a great wall display for them to dream and "picture" their future in the theater.

For a free download of either a 5x7 or 8x10 Theater Template, link HERE.  NOTE, you will need to LIKE my Facebook page, but doing so also provides a number of other popular templates that I've created.  [NOTE: This template was inspired by the famous "PLAYBILL" design.  The "Playbill" Logo is tradmarked and copyrighted]

NOTE, you do need to have some Photoshop experience plus knowledge of clipping masks.  If you're not familiar with how to use a clipping mask which you will need to know for this free template, check out one of our favorite blogs, The Coffee Shop Blog by Rita.  The link will walk you through an explanation on how to use a clipping mask (it's easy, believe me).

If you have an aspiring actor, enjoy this template and on with the show!

Friday Freebie: Family Circle Storyboard Photoshop

by Tina Case Photography
My goal is to post a Friday Freebie around once a month.  Last month I shared a densely packed, 49-spread square template for Instagram or any of your other favorite photos.  That storyboard is perfect for an engagement session where you could split the top half and bottom half with photos of the two people and meet in the center with one large image.

For this Friday Freebie I have what I call my Family Circle Storyboard. My inspiration was this wonderful Radial Family Tree over at Cactus and Olive.

I created this entirely in Photoshop.  Once I figured a way to create arcs I was able to piece something similar.  This is perfect for capturing a family tree or a family vacation.  My example shows off some photos from our Australia vacation.  NOTE: Once you download the blank template you will find I numbered the clipping masks according to the numerals on a clock.  Also notice that the background is transparent - so if you save your final work as a PNG file, you won't have a white background.

The text is something you will have to play with to shape it in that arc using the Warped Text Tool. You can see my text and font example and use that as a guideline.  In Cactus's and Olive's example she uses the family name which is a wonderful idea.

I also provide the additional clipping masks in case you would rather fill in the space with photos instead of text.  Play around with it, it's your choice!

You will need to be versed in using clipping masks in Photoshop.   I highly recommend that you visit Rita's The Coffee Shop Blog to learn how to use Clipping Masks which is essential for this storyboard.  Plus, if you're game, here's another wonderful Photoshop Action that Rita has provided which speeds up the insertion of your images. It's called Group-It. And while we've never charged a nickel for our storyboards, I do ask that you LIKE my Facebook page to receive this free storyboard.  If you have a Facebook page for your studio, message me and I'll like you back!

This download as well as several of my popular storyboards can be found on my Facebook business page here.  This storyboard took lots and lots of Photoshop snapguides to perfect it, if you know what I mean. I hope you love it, drop me a line to let me know how you're going to use it!

AMAZING Free Instagram Storyboard for 49 images

by Tina - one of the Moms Who Clicks

They say that necessity is the mother of invention.  Well I reckon that is how this storyboard came to be.  I was asked to create something for two people getting engaged with a way to show their lives intersecting.  This is a perfect storyboard to frame for a wedding or engagement celebration.  OR for someone's 49th or 50th birthday!  While it does only have 49 spots for photos, you can take the birthday celebrant's 50th year photo at their party to frame later and start a new storyboard for their next 49 years, right?  Or how about using this for a bunch of your favorite Instagram photos?

This storyboard has 49 places for square cropped photos with the center one being the main attraction. For this example I filled it with images from my husband's and my childhood all the way through to our center as a couple.   Lots of between-years were skipped but you get the idea.  By the way my friend Tracy, a wonderful photographer herself, snapped this photo for us while we were in Maui - that's not a fake backdrop!

There are 48 small squares, which when used for an engaged couple provide 24 per person.  The larger center spot is to be used with an image of the couple.  But your creativity is the limit with this storyboard.  Perhaps it's a composition of your favorite Instagram images?  Or a collage based on colors?

NOTE:  I produced this as a 40x40 inch print. Because of the size of the file I reduced the download to an 8x8 inch file.  To resize in Photoshop simple go to "Image - Image size" to whatever size square you need before proceeding.  You may also want to change the DPI from 75 to 240 or 300 depending on your preference.

The download can be found on my Facebook business page here.  This storyboard took a ton of time and lots and lots of Photoshop snapguides to perfect it, if you know what I mean.

I hope to create a storyboard each month and will post it here when they are released.  I have two more in the queue which are awesome so be on the lookout.  Enjoy!

Friday Freebie--Calendar Template From Shutter Sisters

The amazing Shutter Sister, Paige Balcer has created another fantastic DIY calendar template for 2013. I am working on putting together a few for holiday gifts (yep, I'm running a bit behind).  This is such a great way to personalize a gift for family, friends and clients.

I love how easy the template is to use (basic knowledge of Photoshop is necessary) and how it is sized to fit inside a CD jewel case.  And I also love Paige's suggestion  of simply fastening the pages together with a binder clip and hanging it on your wall.  So cute!

Thank you Paige for this great template.

You can download the template at the Shutter Sister's site.  Have fun creating this great gift that will last all year long!

Here is the start of mine......

P.S.  Thank you Suzanne for reminding me to get this template.  I'm so glad you asked about it! :)
