With Instagram it became 'Hip to be Square.' The 4:6 ratio took a back seat to the 20 billion photos that have been uploaded by the 200 million active Instagram users. It changed the way we framed the images in our daily lives.
I thought I would create a template that highlights a SQUARE photo in the center, but still highlights a few rectangle size photos too.
The images I am using are from a recent nature walk I took at Shoreline Park in Mt. View, California.
You will need to have working knowledge of Photoshop to use this template and clipping masks. I always refer people to the wonderful blog The Coffee Shop Blog by Rita. So frame away!

Friday Freebie: Facebook Timeline Cover "Tiny Bubbles"

I love to design and create all sorts of templates. Once I learned how to do it from others who were so generous with tutorials like The Coffee Shop Blog and Paint The Moon it's been fun to try on my own.
Today's freebie is a template I call Tiny Bubbles. I created it for a friend who is from the islands of Guam and Hawai'i. So I thought this was appropriate given the famous "Tiny Bubbles" song by Don Ho. Okay, maybe it's a little cheesy, but I still love the idea of these bubbles of photos with the background of one of my favorite tropical flowers, the plumeria.
All of these photos were taken on our last vacation to Hawai'i. We went to the islands of Oahu and Maui. I'm ready to return! I did replace these images with photos from a family session for my friend.

Photojojo Photo Time Capsule--Friday Freebie

I love Photojojo's Photo Time Capsules. It is such a fun way to revisit your old photos. How it works is you set up the Time Capsule with your email & Flickr account. And then twice a month you receive an email with your photos from a year ago.
Time Capsules actually looks at your Flickr account and picks the most interesting photos--the ones that got viewed the most, favorited the most and commented on the most.
It is a great way to relive moments and see photos that you may have forgotten (we take so many, don't we?). For example today, I received these photos in my inbox. They actually make me a bit teary-eyed because these are from my fantastic, inspiring, week spent at Shutter Sisters Oasis. How can it be that this all happened a year ago?

Friday Freebie: 50 FREE Facebook Cards from MOO
We have a great freebie for you today! I stumbled upon this great deal from Moo earlier this week and am excited to share it with you all.
You can get 50 Free Facebook Cards for a limited time from Moo.com. I just ordered mine today and can't wait to get them. How it works is that you need to click this link and Moo will ask to access your Facebook account. It will then pull your timeline cover photos for the images of the cards. You can make cards from either your personal account or your business account.
Unfortunately for me, I had a lot of timeline cover photos with text, so they didn't work as the text was cut off on the sample image. I then ended up uploading a few more photos and creating new timeline covers so that I could have more options for these cards. I apologize to those of you who received the the flood of timeline cover updates in my Facebook stream.
Once your images are uploaded, you can customize the contact information on the back of the card as well as add a message or favorite quote.
Here is one of the cards I made.....

Friday Freebie--Memory Jar Printable from Paper Coterie

Paper Coterie has a wonderful free memory jar printable this month that is perfect for kicking off the new year.
While we all spend a lot of time capturing memories with our photographs, we may not be as good at documenting our story with words. Sometimes it is just hard to think of something to write about. So the great folks at Paper Coterie came up with this easy and inspiring way to document your year.
The Memory Jar has 52 Questions, one for each week. You can download the questions, the jar label and the journal bookplate here. Each week, choose a question and write down your answer and at the end of 2013 you'll be able to look back at your year and remember your thoughts.
I just love this idea and can't wait to get started!

Friday Freebie: 2013 Calendar Template From Hazy Skies Designs
This year I thought it would be nice to give my clients a 2013 calendar as a thank you for their business....just a small gesture to show my appreciation.....
I looked online for a template. I wanted something I could easily customize and something that was a standard size that my clients could print out if they wished. In doing so, I found this terrific calendar from Hazy Skies Designs. I just love it. I whipped up a dozen or so calendars so far and customized the colors for each client.
Hazy Skies Designs not only has this great free template (available for download on their Facebook page) but they also have a terrific selection of templates for photographers...including marketing templates, collages, CD labels, digital paper packs and more. You should definitely go check out their unique and fresh designs.

Friday Freebie--Camera Graphic from Stephanie Corfee
When I found her camera graphic, I emailed her right away asking for permission to feature them on our site and she was happy to share them with our Moms Who Click readers (thank you again, Stephanie). Aren't they so cool? They can be used as iron on transfers or you can use them screen prints for your favorite tees. Click here to download the individual camera graphics from her site.

Friday Freebie--Free eZy Watermark Lite App
I hadn't really thought about watermarking my Instagram photos or Facebook photos until my blogging partner, Tina, put together this post regarding watermarking images on Facebook (in the post she directs you to a great video on how to batch watermark your images).
In case you were not already aware of this..... Facebook (and other social media platforms) has a clause written in their user agreement that allows them to use your photos for commercial purposes. You can see all the legal details here.
Having this brought to my attention made me realize that I should watermark more of my images, including those I take on my iPhone and share on Instagram or directly to Facebook. So I went in search of a watermarking app....and of course, there is an app for that!
The app I am now using is a free app called eZy Watermark Lite. eZy Watermark allows you to add an image or text watermark to your images that you can easily resize, rotate and move. The app is compatible for both the iPhone or iPad.
Some of the key features include:
1. Adds text and image watermark.
2. Import picture from camera, library and iTunes share.
3. Swiping gestures to ease of use for rotate, relocate and resize watermark text and image.
4. Change opacity of watermark text and image.
5. Change color and font of watermark text.
6. Save pictures in 3 different resolutions.
7. Save pictures in library and iTunes share.
8. Sharing pictures on Facebook, twitter and via email.
9. Save Facebook login settings
Below are a few images that I watermarked using this app. It was quick and simple to use. The only feature I wish it had was the ability to save your watermark so that you do not have to retype it each time.
