My One Little Word for 2014

For the past two years I have participated in the One Little Word movement.  It was started by Ali Edwards and you can read more about it on her blog here.  And if you would like to join her workshop and be a part of a one year journey with your word, you can do so here

Last year I chose the word Nurture and would you believe I had to go through the archives on this blog to remember what it was when trying to decide on this year’s word? Yes, some how the whole notion of practicing this word fell to the wayside......

As it turns out, even though I forgot the word it really showed up in my life this past year.  I had two friends pass away this fall (which I still find hard to believe and my heart aches) and I hope that I in some small way have helped nurture (and I will continue to do so) those that were left behind.  I had a child who needed some extra TLC….I vacationed with my family in April ….and in December I flew back for my grandmother’s 90th birthday and being around all of my extended family was fantastic and nurturing to my soul.  I could provide you with more examples of how this word showed up for me in 2013 (even though I forgot about it)…but I’ll save that for another post.

Anyway, this year I have chosen the word ENJOY…..as in Enjoy the time I have with my son who will be a Senior this fall….Enjoy my family as a whole…..Enjoy my love of photography…..Enjoy my friends….Enjoy the beauty that is around me….Enjoy the moment and most importantly….Enjoy the ride.

I am hopeful that I won't forget to incorporate this word into my daily life.  It really shouldn't be that hard, right?

My One Word for 2013---Nurture

by Kristina

I finally chose a word for 2013 or maybe it chose me........

For those of you who are not familiar with this One Word concept the idea is to choose a word that you will try to incorporate into your everyday life for the year.  A word that you will focus on, that will motivate you and inspire you.

Last year I chose the word Focus and this year my word is Nurture.

I chose this word because I it seemed like a great way to build on my word from last year.  After spending a year focusing on the various aspects of my life, "nurturing" these facets seems like the next step.  In 2013 I plan to nurture:

  • my business
  • my family
  • my relationships with friends (both new and old)
  • my creativity
  • my health
  • myself

I think this is a great word and one that I will easily incorporate into my daily life.  Have you picked a word for 2013?  If so, we'd love for you to share it with us in the comments below.
