Capturing Sun Flare

I love great sun flare shots but I never knew how to capture the rays.    My sun flare shots were basic and boring.  Orbs of bright light that basically looked like a mistake..........

However, all that changed with just a few simple tips from the amazing Xanthe Berkeley and Kristin from Maine Momma (yep, I met them both at camp).  Here is the scoop, all you need to do is set your camera to manual (it will have a hard time focusing if you are in auto) and use an f-stop around f/22 and hello rays of light!

I can't even tell you how excited I am to know how to do this.  I can't wait to try this out with actual people in the foreground!  :)

So bump up your f/stop and shoot some flare.  Oh and if you get a moment, we'd love for you to share your flare.   Just leave a link in the comments below or post a pic in our Flickr group Share Your Flare.
